On behalf of all the people who call Connecticut home, it is
my pleasure to welcome you to our beautiful state. The remarkable diversity of
Connecticut's landscape and its distinctive pastimes make it an ideal choice for
your getaway or vacation any time of year.
Camping is a unique way to explore Connecticut, the state where formal camping had its
beginnings back in 1862 at the Gunnery School in Washington, Connecticut. Our campgrounds
provide a convenient and economical way for you and your family to visit our parks,
beaches, cultural attractions, and historic landmarks.
Nowhere else in America will you find so much history and so much natural beauty
with picturesque river valleys, over 250 miles of coastline, quaint villages, and wooded
hills, all in on state. The remarkable diversity that exists in our state awaits your
exploration.
Once you have sampled the many pleasures here, you'll understand why Connecticut
is called the "land of Steady Habits." We're sure you'll make a visit
